Hello, I’m Kathryn, a potter from Oxfordshire. I create beautiful ceramics from my garden studio.

I stumbled across pottery a few years ago as a way to help manage the eb and flows of life. After a few lessons, I ended up diving head first into the rabbit hole of pottery and joined a makers studio in Jerichos, Oxford. This was a huge learning curve as I no longer had any lessons, but was rather learning on the go and really getting the feel for ceramics by being immersed in it. After my time in the community studio I joined another pottery class more local to where I live. This was a wonderful experience which led me to setting up my own studio, where I now spend my days producing beautiful ceramics.

I remember from a young child, the ritual of my Grandmother getting out her traditional silver teapot and serving afternoon tea. I loved the way we all sat down together, holding the teacup in our hands and immersing ourselves in the moment of being together and sharing such simple joys. To me, a teacup/mug is not just that - it is so much more; It is time for sharing love, tears, joy or time to just be…finding stillness for a few moments.

The pieces that I create are not just physical ‘things’, they are pieces of me, pieces of my memories and pieces of my life which brings me an abundance of joy to share.

My approach to ceramics is to create pieces that “feel” calm, soft and quiet. Pieces that can take centre place or blend in together.

The glazes that I use have been created by myself through knowledge from various courses. I love developing my own glazes and continue to further my skills through education.

When I am not in my studio, you will find me practising Taekwon-Do, Kickboxing, running, reading and spending time with my family.

Oh and I do love an afternoon cream tea!
